Ali showed some really nice touches at times, she does have variety which is good to see.

I thought she was going to go away after the first couple of games in the second set but really dug in in the middle of the set and played her most consistent stuff but couldn't get the early break in that set back, though pressed for it at 2-3*.

Certainly feisty, just needs to watch not get down on herself. Good experience.

Moved over to catch the last few games of Eleanor's match, which I'd just spied from afar till then. Moving really well and just very consistent. And having missed MP at 5-3* closed out the final game in style. So good to see such talent in action. Stay fit !!

As always, great to hear some firsthand feedback.

Some nice wins in the doubles, in particular for Alicia and Dommie against the third seeds.

That should be new doubles rankings for Dommie, Maia and Ali Collins....

As things now stand Laura S will move to at least 12 points on Monday week and displace Laura D in the GB top 25.

Eleanor could yet go to 13 !

Can't be many other players played a GS, and their next event was a $15K (or previously, $10K), unless long term injury was a factor.

I was going to suggest Marcus Willis. But he slipped in a qwc to ATP 500 Vienna.

Didn't expect too much when I saw the draw - 1 or 2 GB wins at best. Three is impressive and Laura S was a big surprise.

I've not seen Laura S play before. Hopefully will get to see her at the Wirral tournament.

Must have been a little tricky for both Laura S and Udvardy to play each other - never easy when it's a teammate.

Thrilled beyond compare for Ellie Dean - may the fates really cross their fingers that injuries are behind her....

Ken Skupski did it once when he started playing with Neal. But Joss & Anna playing at $15K when they could have been playing in a WTA Premier (100 points for a first round win) is mind boggling. I've always found their schedule to be a bit on the light and conservative side, but this...

I also got the impression that generally Jossanna's form over the last 4 or 5 months was relatively not bad at all. Had some bad draws but form seemed to have picked up from the spring and summer.

There's supporting your local event in Joss's case, and what the heck are you doing here, girls ?!

I'd agree with wolf about Jossanna's schedule. Perhaps they just can't afford the travel, or have earmarked the funds for better prospects later in the year. I hope that's not the reason, but I fear it is a limiting factor.

Not a bad day in Glasgow all round, given the over ranked general entry, our players did alright overall, and very well in doubles.
Last few dubs results:
R1: (WC) Anane/Hillyer (GBR/GBR) 2496 v. Grey/Nicholls (GBR/GBR) 1041 4-6 3-6
R1: Rae/Smith (GBR/GBR) [1] 157 defeated Koelzer/Prenkovic (GER/GER) 1955 6-3 6-2

Looks as though Maia and Ali face the seed #1 in doubles tomorrow, Rae/Smith, both also British.
