Week 5 - ITF ($15K) - Glasgow, UK Hard

Beth and Lauryn have played a few times and all have been very close.

I agree Lauryn is very talented and has the potential to improve significantly.

Fairly ridiculous that Anna and Joss are here over Grenoble but I guess they are desperate for match time

Ali Collins has Maia's redistributed WC so we have 6 in the main draw.

I would imagine, with Joss being Scottish, that she'd like to support the home event and take part. I think it's a good idea, really. (And, as oyu say, they've hardly been going great guns at the other events).

Shame for poor Laura S to be drawn against her Soto team-mate, the very talented young Hungarian. And Ellie Dean getting the second seed isn't really ideal.....

Well it wasn't going to be an easy draw for any of them, but Ellie getting no 2 and Beth getting no 3 ............

I should be court 6 side ( should be main 'stand' ) tomorrow, but will no doubt go awandering at times as interest dictates.

Maia plays (Q) Iva Primorac - WR 739

Ali plays Tess Sugnaux - WR 431

Laura plays (JE) Panna Udvardy - WR 676

(Q) Sarah plays (3) Julia Wachaczyk - WR 372

Manisha plays Emina Bektas - WR 525

Eleanor D plays (2) Michaela Honcova - WR 368

Tough matches all round especially for wildcards but nothing the Brits can't handle.

Nice to see that Maia and Ali are playing in their hometown (Glasgow).

I think Dunblane claims Ali. It needs all the decent players it can get

True enough, Indiana. Sorry. Don't know how I forgot Ali is from Dunblane, clearly wasn't thinking as I knew this! Haha.

Ali is unranked in the women's circuit but still holds a firm ranking in juniors - JWR 103 (30/1/17).

Manisha wasting chances all over the shop (she's hitting big, been impressed so far, and a little disappointed by Bektas who I thought would be better than this given her college record and results) and loses her break lead

3-3*

But breaks to love, just hitting Bektas off the court

5-3*

Ali playing pretty well. Lots of potential there, very obvious strengths and weaknesses so lots to work with if she gets the right team around her.

Sarah Beth on serve 4-3*

Eleanor saved 3 break points, broke, saved 5 more break points, and eventually holds after about 10 deuces

3-1*
