Well done, Jay Clarke - continuing where he left off. I was looking through Steven's tweets - hadn't realised that Toby Smith, who's coaching some of the young Scots, is Leon Smith's younger brother.

There's a third brother too, Gary, who is also a qualified coach.

Women's semis have now finished, so May should be up soon. I assume there is a stream.

There is indeed: offsidetv.com/videos/clarke-jay-vs-grenier-hugo/.

I've just watched five minutes - the game that brought it to 3(Clarke)-2(Grenier) on serve. Hope the rest goes well!

First set gone 6-4.
To be fair Hugo was the better player, but not too much in it. Just more consistent. Jay made mistakes when the pace came off the ball.

Not seen Jay play before, but has decent serve, big forehand, moves players around and does have variety with the lob and net play.

Great link, thanks. I do like the thought and variety Jay brings to his play.

The thing that I've mentioned when you see Jay play live, that strikes you first, is what a good athlete he is.

Reminds me of JWH in that regard.

Not to be today.  Looked like a really debatable line call on BP at *4-4 30-40, but that's the way it goes.

Not to be, Jay broken at *4-4 30-40 on what looked a contentious DF, certainly from his point of view, while the Frenchman had sprinted to his chair. Grenier then held comfortably to love.

Was a DF called ? I thought the line judge called the return in for a winner.

Ah maybe, sorry, I just was watching on my mobile and saw Jay standing at the service line in dispute. I hadn't noticed such minor details as perhaps a return flashing by.
