Jonny O'Mara is taken to a 3rd set. He will feel no doubt that the 2nd was a chance missed. Most notably, leading 4-2* and with BP for 5-2 and a double break, he missed what for him was a relatively straight forward forehand. I think that would have killed the match there and then. But that's tennis in a nutshell. A game of fine margins.
But no need to panic. Jonny is perfectly capable of winning this in three.
Well done, Jay Clarke - continuing where he left off. I was looking through Steven's tweets - hadn't realised that Toby Smith, who's coaching some of the young Scots, is Leon Smith's younger brother.
Jonny threw that away he was in complete control in the 2nd set break points in two games to go a double break up. Then he started shouting at himself after every first serve missed. Also bad judgement when he was lobbed could have made the overhead and then missed the return on a key point. He was shouting that he had made on 30 per cent first serves when in fact it was about 55 at that point but ultimately it cost him the match.
Jay V Jonny was by far the better match. Jonny also shouting at himself must be a Jonny thing however it helped him win the 2nd set, Jay just a little bit too strong. He's an exciting player to watch wouldn't be surprised if he won the entire thing now can't see Grenier beating him but we will see.
A shame that there were only maybe 30 people in attendance to watch I thought as well not sure if more were there earlier in the week or not especially with free entry.
