Week 5 - Challenger ($125,000) - RBC Tennis Championships, Dallas, TX, USA (hard)

The second doubles match is about to begin on livestream. The first is going to be quite late - probably about midnight UK time.

Edit: Just watching the warm-up for a little bit. Baker/Monroe have fairly tidy serves.

Spectator, if you switch from "event time" to "local time" in the daily schedule on the live scoreboard, you will see that Joe's & David's match against Harrison & Tiafoe is scheduled to kick off "not before 1 am (3rd February)" - Texas is six hours behind GMT.

Ah, thank you. I didn't realise Texas was six hours behind. Much appreciated. (Think I might miss that then!) Match number one fairly unhappy from a GB perspective at this point. Baker/Monroe 3-0 and very dominant.

Baker certainly had a great doubles record with different partners over the latter months of last year.

Really good to see, well when he's not playing Brits !

QF:  (2) Brian Baker & Nicholas Monroe (USA/USA) CR 108 (62+46) defeated Luke Bambridge & Sekou Bangoura (USA) CR 389 (212+177) by 3 & 2  hmm

Oh dear!

Pretty much to be expected, honestly. Baker and Monroe are more Tour than Challengers. But good experience for Bambridge/Bangoura (though hard on Bangoura, who's defending a lot of points).

Apparently Ryan Harrison and Frances Tiafoe have withdrawn from the doubles (Tiafoe has an arm injury - hope it's nothing serious and he's better soon) ... so Mr O'Hare and Mr Salisbury are now in the SFs. A trip to Texas very worth their time!

Yay, that'll be 5 + 18 points now

Make that 5 + 35

PS: yes, all the best to Mr Tiafoe.

Should push Joe up to around the mid 260's.

First set down the pan, perhaps unsurprisingly, by 3-6.  cry

Make that one set all, the boys having taken the second by 7-5 to level the match!
