QF: Cam Norrie WR 266 beat Alexander Sarkissian (USA) WR 230 (CH 157 last April) 6-1 6-3
SF: Cam Norrie WR 266 vs (4) Taro Daniel (JPN) WR 124 (CH 85 last April)
Cam up to live ranking 237 and, with only 5 points to defend before July, he is already looking pretty well set for direct qualifying entry to Roland Garros and Wimbledon if he wants it ( and Wimbledon of course could provide further generosity ).
Reach the final here and he'll be close to WR 220.
He must be currently seriously considering his college future, seems little point in going back but he might feel some obligation to play or might have already said he would.
Fabulous week so far along with being selected as part of wider DC squad, very pleased for him. What a fantastic position to push on from. Although there are a number US College DC players very few get to be part of World Group matches, serious food for thought. Personally I would be delighted to see him in RG qualifying and indeed Wimbledon, I know there is the money and experience of the inevitable MD WC but I feel winnng through qualys is so much more beneficial at this point than getting thumped in the first round draw in terms of development.
Taro Daniel is a player that I associate with successful progression of British players. He was the number 1 seed in the series of futures tournaments in Spain in 2013 when I first saw Kyle play and was therefore the main man in the draw to be shot down! The reality was it was PCB and Kyle is still shooting that one.
He also lost to Evo in Vancouver in August 2015 in one of the most exciting games I have ever watched? on live score, it was ridiculous, Dan game back from it may have been 5-0 down in the final set to win. At the time I felt it was a real turning point in Evo's psychological battle with truly committing, indeed it moved me to my first and only tweet to anyone, i.e Evo.
It would be nice to see another Brit turn him over!

If he was still at college dont think he would be allowed the prize money anyway. I may be wrong on that.
The rules of the NCAA are a little more sensible theses days in terms of allowing expenses etc but you are right we are talking such large sums I think it would be very difficult not to accept and go pro.
Cam should be winning this easy peasy japanesey, he has superior serve and ground strokes to Daniel, but he keeps missing easy finishing shots. His approach shots are great.
