Bet365 has a nice stream of young Jake Hersey's match, who has a wildcard into the main draw (as does Harry Butler). Dan D playing too.

Jake is only 16 but already a break up on the 8th seed, ranked WR 402.

Hits a nice ball, looks comfortable on the clay, too.....

Jake lost the first set 4-6

Which is a fair score. But he played a good set of tennis. And made the top 500 player up his level and really make an effort.

It's exactly the sort of match youngsters should be playing from time to time.

Jake went a break up in the second set too - and very nearly got broken back at exactly the same point as in the first set.

But thanks to being the slightly more offensive player, and a few pushed wide backhands by 8th seed, Jake is now serving for the second set. *5-4

And with two excellent serves at 40-40, 16 year-old Jake takes the second set 6-4 against the Israeli, ranked 402, CH of 350 a few months ago.

After leading 40-15 on his serve, jake's game took over 10 mins, and he finally lost it, which rather knocked the stuffing out of him. Now down 0-3

That does look a really good performance by Jake, so close to being only our third current junior with a senior ranking, in this new year now that some have left the juniors ( Alexander Carlos Parker and Ewen Lumsden are the existing two, with a ranking point apiece ).

Jake is 16 yo ( 21/05/00 ) and currently JWR 185.

Nooo !!  That 3rd set was no doubt an MTB rather than a full set, but even so, that is still very tough.

Let's hope at least that Billy has got something left in the tank for later, and a little LL spot for Toby wouldn't be a bad thing either.  Pretty please smile
