RE: Weeks 3/4 - Australian Open - Melbourne, Australia - Hard

Julia Carrot, are you going to be bold enough to place another bet on Dan?  Bet365 have Dan at 11/10.   I'm slightly suprised by those odds, I'd have thought Dan might be a slight favourite. I think Tomic has had some injury issues and hasn't won too many matches in recent months.

Tell us what odds you had when you backed him to beat Thiem

Question: I know that AM has historically not liked one of the venues at the USO because it had a smaller court. My recollection is that the same is true of Hisense. Is that correct?

That was mine too and I was googling a bit last night. All I really found was him saying a few years ago that he really liked Hisense.

But a little concerning that it is on your mind too.

PS: I have read that Hisense is really the second court though schedules tend to list Margaret Court before it. Is that the case ?

PPS : Armstrong is Andy's dislike at the US Open. I knew with regards to its tightness ( and it is tight, especially for a guy that is so good at hunting balls down ). But also I was reading because it is usually significantly quicker than Ashe.

Well that statement that he likes it is a relief, Indiana. Thank you! I was nervous about a big server on a smaller court if he didn't like it. Good to know there's not the same sense - and that the Armstrong issue isn't just about size of court. Seem to remember it's got wind issues, too, come to think of it.

Denis the Menace - Wow !

Yes well done Denis. I saw him win the Nottingham ATP final in 2015 against Sam Querry (in 2 tie breaks if I remember correctly). I wondered who his very enthusiastic supporter was in the corner of the ground until I found out it was his Mum and coach. If she was there in Melbourne then she must have lost her voice!

If you take the remaining draw and look at it on head to heads then you get last 8 onwards of:

Murray v Federer
Wawrinka v Tsonga
Nadal v Ferrer
Thiem v Carreno Busta

Federer (sorry!) v Wawrinka
Nadal v Thiem

Federer v Nadal (odds for this??)

winner FEDERER (beat Nadal last time out in Basle October 2015).

Note I just took result of last time they played and where no H2H, highest ranked won it.

Clearly wont work out this way but fun nonetheless!

Not sure of odds for a Federer win, personallly I think this is bunkum and my money is now on Andy for certain!

Feel sorry for Murray, Novak is gone, but the other side of the draw has far more clowns.

Murray is looking at Fedex- coming back to form
Stanimal, which I make stan fav

Other side has, teenage brat from germany, Monfils (clown with no fitness), Nadal (still not convinced he is back) and botonic (not got the guts to win a slam).

If Murray wins, AO this year, yes he will have not beaten Novak, but still be a huge achievement looking at possible draw. When Murray Wimbledon last year, it was really a 250, to weak 500 draw he faced.

You appear to have got lost. Allow me to guide to you to a forum where this sort of nonsense will be appreciated.

I would honestly make him one of the least likely out of the 16 remaining players in the bottom half of the draw.

Indeed the legitimate world #1 because forget everything else Novak has won more Slams in the last year with 2 W and 1 RU from 3 finals as against Andy's 1 W and 2 RU from 3 finals. So startingly clear and .... oops

Re the potential QF line up, I'd go for most likely, though most certainly not my preferred ...

Murray vs Nishikori
Wawrinka vs Tsonga
Nadal vs Raonic
Goffin vs Dimitrov

How about

Murray v Lacko
Darcis v Evans
Kohlschreiber v Ferrer
Paire v Istomin

NB: This is my best scenario for Andy and Dan, not what I actually want to see.

I'd take that.

Even more frustrated about Mr Murray's half now that the other half is rather more open.
