RE: Week 2 - ATP 250 - Apia International, Sydney, Australia (hard)

It is deja vu all over again as Dan breaks and holds (after considerable effort)

*3-0 now... Thiem is the one that's tired in hindsight, a plethora of silly errors from his racket.

That said, Dan's defence all the way through has been phenomenal.

5 - 1 Evo Thiem serving to stay in it. Regardless of how tired Thiem is what a fantastic performance from Evo!

Well, he made that look easy. He really seems to be enjoying himself, does mr. Evans. Well done, sir.

One more win would get him a career high of 51 while winning the event would break the top 50 (and be just behind Kyle)

Wow. This could be a really exciting year for the top echelon of GB Men's tennis.

One question. Eurosport and others reporting that this is Dan's first ever ATP SF. Didn't he get to one a few years back. I seem to remember Murray tweeting "one more win" when Dan was pushing for the Top 100 before his injury layoff and that was also a SF in an ATP event.

Edit

Answered my own question.  Zagreb in 2014 (Week 6) Dan made the SF as a LL before being beaten by top seed Tommy Haas.
