Great stuff from Evans so far.

I wonder how long we have to go back since we had a ladies champion, a men's finalist and a men's doubles finalist at the same event.

Muller takes the TB (5)
Come on Dan!

The net really worked in Muller's favour at the crunch time in the TB. A net cord winner and then a 2nd serve that hit the net and could easily have gone for a DF.

Very little to choose between them.

Not to be, but we can still look back on this week with a lot of pride and excitement for the future.

Fantastic week Evo. You'll just have to win the AO instead.

Yes - great week for Dan. Sets him up nicely for the AO!

To be fair I guess you can't really begrudge Muller and hopefully Dan's time will come. I always love watching him play, he might never be top 20 but I reckon if he could become more widely known to the general public his personality would make him a great inspiration for kids to take up the sport.

Edit - loved that bit of banter between the 2 of them during the prize giving smile

Tough one for Dan but you can't help but feel happy for Gilles Muller.

Wasn't it Muller whom Jamie Delgado coached into contention before he went on to other things? Or am I remembering incorrectly?

For the record:

Final:  (6) Gilles Müller (LUX) WR 34 defeated Dan Evans WR 67 by 7-6(5) 6-2  cry

A disappointment, but by no means a disgrace.

No, you're not, Spectator, it was.

Any chance you could elaborate please!

Hugely impressive week for Dan and if Muller hadn't had a few fluky net cords in the first set tie break the match could easily have swung in his favour.  Lovely to see him competing within the type of environments/situations that bring out the best in him.
