Great chance for Cam to add 12 points from qualifying here. Win his QR1 and he would then face the q8 seed Finn Tearney, WR 494 New Zealand WC, or an "Alternate" ( 6 points for just winning QR1 ).
Brydan would face the q2 seed, Steven Diez (CAN) WR 166, or an "Alternate".
The huge bulk of the WR 100 to 250 players clearly have another priority for the coming week.
Demoliner, 27, is now a doubles (both men's and mixed) specialist, having a current ATP ranking of #67, with a career high of 56, but he used to play more singles and his singles career high was 232. At last year's Aussie Open, he tested positive for hydrochlorothiazide, a banned substance, and was suspended by the ITF last May. But after he returned, he did very well, mostly in doubles, the rest of the year. He made the Round of 32 at Wimbledon and the Round of 16 at Flushing Meadows in men's doubles. Cameron should be favored on his "home" courts, but if he wins, he won't be against Tearney. However, he may be playing against a performance-enhanced human, especially engineered to play tennis.

Rhett Purcell about to start playing on ATP LS, can't help feeling he's been "roped in" as an ALT, (along with a few others) and is about to play 7th seed.
