 It is. Too early for the early North American mini-season.

Very strong entry - Jo is only likely to be seeded 6. 24 direct entries with Sloane Stevens the last, plus Bencic and Bouchard with wild cards

Shvedova is a notorious tanker of sets if they don't start well, but that's still entirely promising from Ms. Broady. Let's go, Naomi!

A spectacular serving performance from Naomi, in terms of first serve percentage (71%), aces (15 from 40 first serves) and dfs (7 of 16 second serves).

In 2016 Naomi got 12 wins over top 100 opponents, 8 of which came prior to the clay season. Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, relatively few of them were what you might describe as super serving displays. The win over Ana Ivanovic in Auckland being the most similar to this win. 

Anyway, I hope during the course of 2017 we see a few more of these dominant serving performances.

21 year old Aussie QWC, WR 631, Ellen Perez, defeats WR 101, Kozlova, and so she will be Naomi's next opponent.
Must be a good chance for Naomi, despite the Australian's impressive win today.
