The first G1 tournament of the year offers a chance for Emily Appleton to win her first title at this level - and she started with an easy win today. Holly Fischer is also in the draw, with a winnable round 1 but the tough prospect of top seed Ellie Douglas in round 2

Emily lost a close first set, but then powered through. She will be back later on in the doubles, where she is top seed in partnership with Sofia Sewing. Holly and partner have also won a match, to earn a crack at the second seeds (including her singles nemesis Ellie Douglas)

Emily won her doubles easily but Holly lost hers. Emily's singles match is scheduled for not before 00.30 GMT on the stadium court, which is currently streamed (and Emily's match is shown on the list to be streamed later0 at www.copacafe.com/news-media/live-tv-streaming

Puzzlingly the ITF haven't updated the scores. however Colette must have watched the live stream, and reported that Emily is the sole non-American in the last 4 of either singles event, having come back from a set and 4-1 down. Her semi, against her doubles partner, is another 00.30 streamed match. The pair are in the doubles semis earlier this evening.

Emily continues to thrive in 3 setters. Her doubles final is on first at 10pm GMT on the streamed court, returning later for the singles final. Having dispatched a Sewing she now plays a S. Ewing biggrin
