Week 1 - ATP 250 - Qatar Exxon Mobil Open, Doha (hard)

The match was magnificent, both these men are super-human.. Tennis was the winner today, just remarkable from both. I don't see that Andy got beat, thats no really what happened, he was shaded marginally and certainly not inferior as some would suggest.
Andy lacked a little consistency in periods as did the other bloke. Novak thrust his arms in the air, looked to the gods, threw a racket and was amazed by his defence, this was a tight game.

I 150% agree with most of that although Andy certainly did get beaten, just in many ways he didn't lose

He maybe did seem on the backfoot a bit too much ( and it's something to consider ) but it was great play by Novak and he often continued to be on the backfoot only because he was somehow still in rallies at all. And when it could be his defense was not passive as in some days of old. I have rarely seen such ongoing awkward looking to deal with return shots under pressure as from both of them and then dealt with well.

Agreed. Andy didn't cave in at all. It was captivating tennis from both of them.
