Altamirano beat Tommy Paul, I think (and I think is also a friend of assorted people) - and plays the wunderkind Soderlund in the QFs. It certainly is an impressive group, though in the streamed doubles match (Quiroz/Hanfmann v Altamirano/Kwiatkowski), Altamirano didn't seem a particularly strong doubles player. Bad day at the office, perhaps, or one of those people who's gifted at singles but not so fond of doubles.
Edit: Just watched two games of Altamirano v Soderlund. If that's what matches look like at the University of Virginia, no wonder they produce so many professional players. Good stuff.

Yeah, you're right - Altamirano beat Paul. If you ever watch Altamirano play and you've got a bluehair or a young child with you, lower the volume or cover their ears because he's been known to say things loudly that may be they shouldn't hear. When North Carolina upset Virginia last year and broke their 140 match ACC winning streak, Altamirano let loose a stream of 4-letter word invective that could make a sailor blush. And yesterday, the F-Bombs were flying - loudly, whenever he lost a point. Virginia has great players and are building a dynasty. But Cam Norrie leads a team (with Alastair Gray now) from lil ole TCU that's gonna challenge them this year - the Cavaliers are villains, I tell you! Y'all should root for Cam and Alastair and the Frogs to finally beat Goliath!
Vocal was certainly a term that came to mind in even the short bits I've seen. As for supporting teams, as Cameron Norrie and Alistair Gray are popular on this board and we have no divided loyalties whatsoever this year (in previous years there were GB players at the University of Virginia, but this year's sole representative appears not to be playing), I should imagine that the support in these environs will be fairly solidly in favour of the Horned Frogs.

For that one? Or for the Bambridge/Salisbury v Hanfmann Quiroz match. The latter is www.youtube.com/watch. If you want the earlier match go to @College10s2day on Twitter and look for the stream. He tweets each one as it starts. It seems to be a different stream for each match. Found it by accident - quite useful! Sorry not to have posted links earlier.

I am no volunteers fan, remember a couple of years back Virginia alum Mitchel Franks gave the LB's a regular kicking through the US summer futures swing. Memphis as always is pack d full of Brits although from next year will be following Cal closely and of course Stanfo d on the ladies side where hopefully Emily will do a Cam.
Personally I would like to see Cam push on and play more challengerso in Aus and the Far East before heading back to college. JR and Sue Ellen have seen much too much of him, from a purely selfish point of view we need to see him at Wimbledon Qualy's, I would imagine he would be offered a WC with his rank mitigated by college comitments, in decent he could do some damage. The conference finals are the end of April and the NCAA finals are at the end of May, so I suppose he can aqueeze rhem in but it won't give much time to practice on grass.
Right. I've done my usual dip in and out - but have a question as Messrs Bambridge and Salisbury take the first set 6-3. I've seen very little of Luke Bambridge's play, as he doesn't normally play Challengers, and I generally only ever see live stream. But in the little I have seen, I don't recall him playing as well as he did in that 1st set where, in the bits that I saw, he was often really very fine indeed. For those who have seen more and are watching this - is this normal? Or has he improved markedly?

No need to apologise. I had just meant any link that in any way related to the stream, as I couldn't seem to find anything via the usual channels. I appreciate the heads up though as I've never followed that account before, and it looks like one to keep an eye on!
To echo Spectator, Luke played very well in the bits I saw, he seemed the best player on court, good and often inventive returning and seems an instinctive comfortable doubles player. I haven't seen much of him, but on this evidence, his general singles and doubles results, reluctant as I generally am to see early concentration on doubles, this surely is his future.
They were *8-6 up in the MTB following a good Joe first serve. At which point unfortunately he seemed to get the yips thinking where one more serve point would get them - failed toss, long, failed toss, into net - DF.
Two serve points brought up MP for the opposition and poor Luke finally didn't deal with a return to his feet as he followed his serve in. G, S & M.
