And certainly to lose it too earlier on. As I indicated I just rather more felt it, as I followed much of it on live score point by point, a pretty competitive match. Like so many women's matches each game is closer to 50-50 rather than the more serve dominated men's game so players are less in control and I less see matches as being thrown away, and not particularly this one ( not that you said that ). Martincova came out on top at the end, but to me certainly not particularly discouraging.

Good fightback I didn't anticipate but that's a confidence blow at the start of the season to lose a match like that. Ouch

The 'tennis gods' have not been with Laura recently as she has not won close to her fair share of these 50/50 matches where neither player is better and it is decided by the odd point. Hopefully she will get a run soon where she is on the right side of these matches as it makes a big difference.

Gutting, but for me preferable to some of the tame losses towards the end of last season in the ITFs.

Jossanna!
May Laura have similar success with Marina to that which Hev enjoyed in her company.

Doubles
R1: Jocelyn RAE/Anna SMITH (GBR/GBR) 155 v. Gabriela DABROWSKI/Zhaoxuan YANG (CAN/CHN) [4] 99
R1: (WC) Laura ROBSON/Marina ERAKOVIC (GBR/NZL) 651 v. Alicja ROSOLSKA/Taylor TOWNSEND (POL/USA) 146

Several Teams in the doubles draw have been marked as (O) or (G) - Laura's opponents are (G).
These are new to me, and I have no idea what these designations are (on site?), or whether they are in fact relevant. I can't see any mention in the new rulebooks.

I hope she's going to be able to get somewhere near to where she left off this year. Sadly, I'm in agreement with Merv right now

10 teams are accepted for each doubles field from advance entry in each field this year, based on combined ranking. Then remaining spots are filled on site.

So, there are two teams marked (G), and a further two marked (O), in addition to the usual WC and seed designations.
How does that figure in to advance/on site entry, or is it something else?

Of the 6 teams accepted on site, 2 are wildcards. Of the other 4, 2 are accepted based on combined doubles ranking, and two are accepted based on best of singles/doubles ranking. The G and O may relate to that (copy of draw on my app doesn't show letters so can't check sorry)
