Ito next for Cam. 19 year old making gradual progress on ITF tour perhaps not dissimilar in potential but a year ahead of the GB 98's now giving the ITF tour a go. He was only on the Cusp of top 50 as a junior but again not sure how much of that is related to opportunity
If he were to progress Cam would meet either
Benitez Chavarriaga a Colombian 21 yr old who has reached a few futures finals this year in his last final he was beaten in 2 by a 16 year old Canadian destined for great things (Felix AA) not to be out done he has also been comprehensively dispatched earlier this year by Denis Shapivalov so must be sick of the sight of pre-pubescent Canadian tennis players.
His opponent this time is not that! Dominic Kupfer graduated from Tulane in2025-16, no junior rank but thrived in college NCAA no 3 seed as a senior. I would imagine Cam knows his game from the college circuit.
The semi final seed is Eric Quickly now 27, an NCAA runner up way back when and US futures/early rounds of challengers mainstay who I am sure would have hoped to progress in the cohort before Kyles (which was relatively week) i.e. the 93 ers when he came out of college.
If Cam can progress through that lot things get very interesting around making the cut for AO qualifying. Fingers and toes crossed he stays healthy this week, realises that goal and then gets the chance to plan the years end with a view to making a serious dent in AO quailes.

Good stuff, one more step on Cam's mission with thanks to Oakland for the info on the possible obstacles.
He drops his last 3 points from last year this week so will drop a little in the rankings next Monday. By now reaching the QF here he adds back 3 points for starters on the following Monday, 12/12. Any further wins are net profit.
As discussed in the 'Australian Open 2016 qualifying points' thread the title here very likely gets him into Aussie Open Qualifying, runner up would leave him hoping, anything less rather less hope ( particularly if he remains not competing next week ), although there is of course a fair amount of uncertainty re the initial and final cut-off.
