Anyone know if there is a Livestream from Columbus this week? The Livestream website is rubbish now it doesn't separate by the challengers courts.
Yeah, pretty impressive how their update to the site has made the interface much worse than before.
I certainly haven't found one. I wonder whether this isn't a USTA tournament. Mike Cation doesn't seem to be reporting, and when I went looking for a live stream on the USTA site (they provide the live streams for the other US challengers, I think), it didn't list Columbus. Bit of an own goal, as since it's so late in the year, there's often quite a bit hanging on this one. And agreed on the new interface.
How many points does Cam need to make AO qualifying ? Playing a 25k next week as well.
Certainly now that Cam has beaten Luke getting closer.
Of course, the target is a variable points one from year to year based on variable rankings.
He has now moved to 183 points ( 3 to drop next week so a guaranteed 180 by 19/12 qualifying entry ranking date ). That has him on a live ranking of 278, just behind Ed on 189 points, live ranking 275 ( the live ranking site seemingly sorted after a number of earlier strange bonuses ).
I very much doubt that is enough yet, but a further 16 points for a QF win and into the 260s and it does look more interesting, and as you say he also has next week's 25K.
Not sure if Ed has some problem or else why he is not competing just now.
Does anyone know the qualifying entry cut-offs for the last few years at the Aussie Open ?
After 2014, the final cut-off seems to have got a lot tighter. I would guess any reasons for that are likely to continue, so we should probably work on the assumption that the initial cut-off will be around 250 and the final cut-off somewhere in the 260s. In other words, another win might be enough, while making the SFs this week would definitely secure him a place in qualifying.
* I think there must have been 3 very late withdrawals that year because WR 304 and 2 players in the 290s got in after lots of players above them had already withdrawn (presumably having decided that making the trip wasn't worth the risk), making the true cut-off 276.

Good stuff and Luke will push the CH 226 that he is currently on closer towards the top 200, and he will be up past Brydan to GB #7 after the existing GB top 6, all clearly doubles specialists, who reside in the top 100. His 33 ( net 30 ) points so far cover the 30 points from futures that he has coming off over the rest of the year.
Excellent work in the doubles, and congratulations to Mr Norrie in singles. In terms of the shift in AO entries, I think it relates to prize money: as I remember it, Craig Tiley announced that he wanted to make it worth the while of qualies competitors to come. So whereas in 2012, qualifiers earned (per round) $2860, $5710, and $11,440 (all in Australian dollars), in 2013, AO qualifiers earned $3,280, $6560 or $13,120. In 2014, it went up to $3,600, $7,200 and $14,400. In 2015, it went up to $4,000 (AUS), $8,0000 and $16,000. In 2016, it went up to $6,000, $12,000 and $20,000. Unless they reverse direction, I think Steven's right in saying that the qualifying cut is going to stay high.
It's just like with Wimbledon, how often do you see a clay court player turn up mainly because of the money avaliable for q1 appearance. If the money is there then it will make it a lot more worthwhile to turn up.
Let's just hope Cam takes the title here which would surely guarantee him entry to Aussie Qualies.

Yes. I think they also pay travel costs (well, a fixed contribution), even in qualis, which has been one of the biggest helps for the lower ranked players. And also have made big efforts to make it a 'swanky' place that everyone wants to go to where you're pampered and have fun.
"This year, the travel stipends total about $1,088,000, with $1,979 going to each player, including qualifiers. Each receives $300 per night for a hotel and $60 per day for meals. Tournament officials said the stipends and per diems were expected to rise next year."
