Great to see Beth getting wins, and wins on foreign soil in particular.
Only really my feeling, not based on anything much, but I do feel that Soto has done her the power of good.
Not only did her game make huge leaps forward but it must have helped too, in the confidence to travel and really take on the pro tour.
I must admit I did notice quite an improvement in her game just in the short time between Felistowe in May and Sutton in August, although some of that must be down to the opposition (Emily A was in top form at Felixstowe) - but certainly her confidence improved as well.
Yes. I think she even had a match point ? At 6-5 in the tie-break ? (Might even have had more than one)
Can't help feeling it's going to be tough now.
Yes Eden did have a match point in the tie break and when I left Beth had a break point and was in a strong position in the second set but went on to lose it in a tie break( 2-7).
QF: Sarah Beth Grey WR 800 lost to (1) Cristiana Ferrando (ITA) WR 367 (CH 318 in September) 5-7 7-6(2) 6-3
QF: Eden Silva WR 774 lost to (4) Raluca Georgiana Serban (ROU) WR 530 (CH 510 in April) 4-6 7-6(7) 6-0
Pity, but still looks pretty good efforts, having both beaten seeds in R2, to take higher ranked seeds ( indeed the #1 seed and the last two weeks' Greece 10K champion respectively ) to 3 sets in the QF, and indeed certainly in their second sets threaten to even meet in the SF.
