Yes, a very good looking win in Marcus's first 'proper' test.
Whatever many may think of Marcus's potential vs where he has actually got to in the past ( and I would be one who thinks he can reach new personal heights ) that is a decisive win against a player currently ranked higher than Marcus's CH 322 from June 2014.
Suggests that he has most certainly been working in his time out, and his tennis is in pretty decent shape. With more matches and further work away from the match court it will be very interesting to follow Marcus's progress.
He has always been a relatively good doubles player. It still is singles though that surely must be his priority in the coming year or two with doubles 'fitting in' as appropriate.

What a wierd TB that was. There had been so few BPs in the match (Marcus 1/3, Altmaier 0/1) and yet neither could hold their serve in that breaker. Marcus was twice a double mini break down at 0-3* and again at 2-5*, pulled back to have his first MP on serve at *7-6, lost both service points for 7-8*, broke both Altmaier points before finally sealing it 10-8.
Let's hope this week proves nothing more than an appetiser for what is to come next year.
Marcus' win just mentioned by Bouncy during the commentary on Andy's match against Raonic. I guess that's what a couple of wins at Wimbledon can do for a player practically unknown outside the confines of this MB!

Stuart Fraser from the Daily Mail also giving him a mention on Twitter.
You might not be over ambitious. The rules for this year (from ATP Rankings FAQ) say:-
"The Emirates ATP Rankings Race To London include points earned in 2016 plus points earned after the 2015 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Paris (excluding the World Tour Finals)"

So I reckon they will count
Great. I was pretty sure they would count. The "over ambitious" part was thinking that Marcus might qualify
