Week 46 - Challenger ($50,000) - Champaign, IL, USA (indoor hard)

Further good news.

R1: Luke Bambridge & Liam Broady CR 621 (265+356) d (2) Sekou Bangoura & Dean O'Brien (USA/RSA) CR 326 (147+179) quite handily 6-2 6-4. Well done.

Mr O'Hare and Mr Salisbury are currently on serve in the first set - theirs is quite a tough match-up, though. Good luck to them!

R1:  David O'Hare (IRL) & Joe Salisbury CR 483 (153+330) defeated (3) Mikelis Libietis & Max Schnur (LAT/USA) CR 390 (282+108) by 3-6 6-3 [10-8]  biggrin

Thought one or two ill-timed double faults might undo them in the MTB!

That was a pretty horrid match from de Loore but he stepped it up at the end and made everyone a bit nervous....

But Liam won 6-3 6-4

And quite rightly....

Served for it at *5-2, broken to 30, then served it out on his second opportunity.

Didn't see it. Does look a very good win though I note CD's comments on the opposition. Whatever, still good to take advantage if a higher ranked player is not having a great day.

Really pleased for Liam. He still needs a few results. Hopefully that will help his confidence.

Chuffed for Liam. Brian Baker next though and he is likely to present a stiffer challenge.

Well done to Liam Broady. And well done to Messrs O'Hare and Salisbury, too. I thought that one might not work out.

Yes, tough one next for Liam though at least Baker certainly hasn't been generally back to top 100 form, having much more success recently in doubles.

Decent effort from Cam but the Belgian is just that bit too strong. Loses 4-6 3-6.
Shame in the first set though, having got back from 2-5 and should have won that game to make it 5-5 that he went on to lose the first set 4-6.

I see that the #7 seed, Noah Rubin, has been knocked out by Chris Eubanks !

De Loore was comically bad in that match. Pleased for Liam, he's now set to face tougher tests.

I think that was de Loore's 5th loss in a row. Still a good win for Liam though With Baker in R2, it doesn't get any easier after taking out a seed, does it!
