Yes, as wolf says, a bit more than a stumble, more a mighty big fall as they can no longer reach the SF.
I now make it* that if Jamie & Bruno win their final group match for a 3-0 record, Herbert & Mahut will need to win their final group game in order not to lose #1 pair spot for the season without Jamie & Bruno even having to win a SF.
* I am assuming that both pairs can add their full points here ( Herbert & Mahut definitely can ), being short of 18 counters, since apparently doubles pairs, as distinct to the individuals, do not have to carry their zeros for first round losses in mandatories. I can tally existing pairs points on that basis.
Currently :
Herbert & Mahut : 7825 + 0 = 7825
Murray & Soares : 7250 + 400 = 7650
Monfils has pulled out with an injury, so Djokovic gets to play Goffin instead. Looks like another 200 points on his way.
Probably, though I fancy Goffin more than I was fancying Monfils ( possibly not being helped here by maybe coming in with an issue given he missed Paris ).

Apologies to Wawrinka for suggesting that he may be starting his holidays earlier. He has just rather complicated the John McEnroe Group by beating Cilc 7-6(3) 7-6(3)
If we do have a 3 way tie on 2 wins between Murray, Nishikori and Wawrinka this one should be decided on sets % with Andy needing to win one set to be through to the SF if Nishikori wins vs Cilic. Though actually beat Wawrinka is even better and 200 more points.
And Andy could finish second and set up Bob's Murray vs Djokovic SF

Round robin match 3 (Group Edberg/Jarryd): (2) Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares (BRA) CR 7 (4+3) defeated (3) Bob Bryan & Mike Bryan by 3 & 4
That moves them to the top of the standings in the Group (for now at least).
Being reported that unless Dodig/Melo beat Mirnyi/Huey in straight sets, that Jamie and Bruno will have already qualified for the SFs.
Indeed. And then on Thursday Dodig/Melo would have to beat Jamie/Bruno in straight sets and Bryan/Bryan beat Mirnyi/Huey also in straight sets. That would leave three pairs with a record of won 2 lost 1, sets 4-2 and calculators out for games.
They are in quite a strong position
Dodig/Melo did win in straight sets, though a still potentially relevant tight 7-5 6-4, so still any of the pairs in the group could still qualify for the SF, any could miss out, although it does need two straight set results the wrong way to endanger Jamie/Bruno
Positions and matches, sets and games won and lost.
1. Murray/ Soares : 2-0 4-0 25-16
2. Bryan/Bryan : 1-1 2-2 20-18
3. Dodig/Melo : 1-1 2-2 19-22
4. Huey/Mirnyi : 0-2 0-4 18-26
Bryan/Bryan have beaten Huey/Mirnyi 6-4 6-4, so we have:
Bryan/Bryan : 2-1 4-2 32-26
So Jamie/Bruno need to at least win a set tonight to avoid a 3-way 2-1 4-2 situation.
Bryan/Bryan are through since both tonight's pairs can't end up ahead them. If Dodig/Melo win in straight sets I make it that Jamie/Bruno need to keep the gap to 5 games ( eg 6-3 6-4 ) or less. If the gap is 6 ( eg 6-3 6-3 ) I make it that everything will be tied up, matches won and sets and games %s. In that event I assume Dodig/Melo would progress on H2H between the remaining two tied pairs.
Be good if the guys win the first set tonight to avoid considering this further.
Good stuff, so I make it as well as in the SF as group winners the lads lead the race.
They will win it if Herbert & Mahut lose their final group game. Otherwise they can then do so by winning their SF with Herbert & Mahut already unable to reach that stage.
