Week 46 - ATP Tour Finals 2016 - O2, London

Wonderful. Admittedly Nole didn't play near his best, but that's not Andy's fault, he just dealt with what was put in front of him.

Well done Andy, I'm so proud of you. To beat all those top players should certainly silence the critics

Anyone who doubted Andy's right to be called WR1, have now had those doubts shot to pieces by possibly GB and Scotland's finest ever sportsman. Andy has just beaten all four of the other Top 5 players, in a row, over a period of just 5 days.

Truly sensational.

Now has anyone ever done that before !?

Clearly in 'normal' knockout it couldn't be done because of seeding so presumably that just leaves other Tour Finals.

His first match this week though was only against the WR 7  Even the group seeding here couldn't allow WRs 2 to 6 as his 5 opponents.

With all that was riding on it too, an absolutely extraordinary week from Andy.

He couldn't possibly have had a tougher draw or tournament, and yet he beat all of them. Utterly remarkable. He's well and truly confirmed his #1 status.

And actually Cilic has overtaken Monfils in the rankings and I am assuming that, unless Monfils is going to enter any cheeky challengers, he will end the year #6.

If so Andy will have confirmed year end #1 in the ATP Tour Finals by beating the end of year #2, #3, #4, #5 and #6 !!!!

Better and better! Really didn't expect that last win - just tremendous. What a wonderful match - and wonderful way to prove beyond a doubt who is number one right now. And how lovely to see him his usual understated self after winning all the glittering prizes. And so gracious in his victory speech - not the usual "I'm sure you've been wonderful" to his opponent, but rightly mentioning a specific accomplishment that was extraordinary. A true champion.
