Thanks JonH for the good wishes re my surprise tickets for tonight.
And my O2 story grew (or could have grown) when I got a phone call at 1p.m. to say zillions more people had now dropped out (!!!) and there were now tickets available for Andy's match if we wanted them....
....and I said 'no' - because I'd arranged to work this afternoon - because we were going this evening - and so I'd fixed things around that ..... great.....
And, yes, andy's match then turns out to be an epic and Djoko wins at a cruise...... brilliant.....good choice, CD.......
(And, yes, Jamie and Bruno also got their 'ar*es' handed to them, as jamie said in his interview, so there was really nothing to say there either)
But, actually, it's just being churlish because work has to be done and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening session.
Yes, Djoko won easily but he was amazing. Just amazing. It was wonderful to see. I was a bit awe-struck.....
And Kei was no slug either. Yes, a little tired perhaps. But he wasn't just going through the motions. Nole was better, that's all.
The queues were ridiculous - 45 mins to get in because of going through security checks which were farcical - if nothing beeps fine, if something beeps, the guy looks a bit nonplussed and just waves you through whatever. And the crowds were huge and a bit disconcerting, to be honest.
But I loved the razzmatazz, the tennis, the spectacle, the arena - all good !
So the very best of luck to Andy tomorrow - but Djoko is fresh and a real mean tennis machine.....
I've just been watching the doubles video highlights. Just amazing stuff - especially, it has to be said, from Klaasen and Ram (and especially Ram) and Kontinen. Worth watching.
If he can play an aggressive 'A' game, he's got a good shot. the thing is that he's not been on that game consistently all week though, so I'm nervous. Also Nole has had a MUCH easier group and matches. (Can't believe how badly Kei played compared to the way he played when he was playing Andy). I really hope the crowd will get behind him and lift him.
I see that Kontinen & Peers won the doubles title in a MTB.
That's 3,100 points in total from the Shanghai and Paris Masters and the ATP Finals. Some going with the way the doubles points tend to be spread since the Bryans dominated.
