Well done Alistair G! I've always had him on my 'list'.....just love his single-handed backhand. He's one who was really favoured by the LTA when he was a tiddler but was dropped when he did not get the results in his early teenage years, mainly because he was small for his age at that time (but his mother was tall and his feet were enormous so surely obvious the height would eventually come). I remember seeing him and several other young Brits giving a demonstration of green ball tennis at Wimbledon one year (guess it must have been 8 years ago now as green tennis is 10 and under). I've been racking my brains to remember who else took part. I think maybe Ewan Lumsden, defo Jazzi Plews and Katie Swan, maybe Eden Richardson, Lauryn JB and Georgie Axon. They would all have been 98 born. Can't think where I could possibly look it up but would be interesting to see how they all have done since.
As has been said, it's an interesting group, the Jay, Ewan, Ali G, Ryan, Alexis etc. 1998-ers group.
And partly because none of them seems to be going down the college route.
(PS Do hope Ryan's injury isn't getting him too down - it must be tricky watching your mates all getting their first points and doing well, when you're a bit side-lined).
Just for info, Alastair Gray is in fact ranked this week, on tied 1647 (his first point from the event in Loughborough coming into play). Good performance from some of the Brits this week, good to see new names coming through!
