The start of 3 weeks of high grade events in Israel, and Holly Fischer has easily negotiated qualifying (4 bakery product sets) to join Jack Molloy, Dominic West, Megan Davies and Eliz Maloney in the main draw
Looking at the field, I think this is a pretty good choice of tournament for Holly, easy to say in retrospect as she has already got some games in in qualifying and justified her place in the first round.
That will be a challenge but winnable against a player a good 2 yrs older and just in the top 200, so a standard consistent with the later rounds of a grade 4. If the draw pans out as seedlings predict and Holly gets to the second round its potential a steep step up to top 100 competition.
It's good to be tested purely to understand the next developmental step and where to progress both tactically and technically to develop a game that transitions to senior tennis later.
Apologies for missing Maria Budin off the draw. A very good day for the Brits with 5/5 wins - Holly having a particularly tough match as tharris signposted. Her next opponent was ranked 12 at the start of the year following a GA semi/quarter and doubles win, but hasn't played juniors all year (or Pro circuit since March)

Dominic West d. Gabriel Huber (AUT) 6-4 6-2

Maria Budin d. Vitalia Stamat (MDA) 7-6(7) 6-1
That's a battling win for Holly. And agreed with what's been said. Good to see her give some higher graded events a go. It's where she can see where is really is.
Eliz takes on the girl who shared two finals with Holly in South Africa while Maria has a crack at a strong top 100 player

(6) Menelaos Efstathiou (CYP) v Dominic West

To put Holly's next opponent in perspective, she is returning from a lengthy layoff ibut this time last year she was beating Sofia Kennin and her last two loses on the junior tour were close ones to Usue Anaconda and Dalma Galfi (3rd set tie break). As Stronbow intimated If she'd stay fit she would probably be thriving at 25-50k futures level on the main tour.
By comparison Maria's opponent is merely a grade 2 winner and serial grade 2 final/semi finalist this year. Should be a walk in the park!
Tremendous effort from Holly. Perhaps her most encouraging result of the year and she comes away with only 10 points. The experience, however, should really spur her on to the next level.
