Week 45- Challenger ($50,000) - Knoxville, TN, USA (indoor hard)

Ed ( CH 142 in 2014, quite a bit of success with Dan Smethurst ) is a bit of a doubles 'ringer' at WR 1001.

You made me wonder whether I'd screwed up yet again with my maths for a moment there, Indy, so I felt the need to double-check... wink

David O'Hare and Joe Salisbury's draw was terrible - not a bad loss, under the circumstances. Well done to the qualifiers, but such a pity that 'our' (at least largely) two teams are up against each other. Agree that the Corrie/Evans ranking isn't remotely reflective of ability!

Nice tidy looking win for Evo on his return to action. Will face Liam next if the latter can get past Polansky.

Good to see Evo getting some doubles in, he obviously really enjoys it. It will be interesting to see how he goes in the Hopman Cup, Andy no longer seeing at the best preparation for the Aussie Open, for him.

Coxy having a bit of a mare here, a 2-6 *1-4 down and not playing well.

L32: (WC) Mackenzie McDonald (USA) WR 293 beat (Q) Dan Cox WR 632 6-2 6-2

That was easily the worst I have ever seen Dan play. He had 35% first serves in, but what was most galling was the complete lack of fight to make a lot of balls and make life tough for his opponent. Normally he fights to the bitter end but the will to do that just didn't seem to be there today.

Brydan's taken the first set, very nicely, 6-3, against Tiafoe

Brydan had break points at 4-4 in second, didn't convert, lost the set 5-7 and is now *0-3 down in the third.

L16:  Ed Corrie WR 280 vs Sam Groth (AUS) WR 184 (CH = 53 in August last year)  bleh

Groth beat Frat Boy, the fourth seed, in straight sets in the first round, but I doubt that's any consolation. cry
