What is the background of Ella Taylor - a player I've never seen or heard of. Looking at her history and age, I assume she has been either in US college or at university.

Just my view:
Nice game. Technically good. But very short. And bit sulky.
Alice Gillan beat her quite easily by the score but it was an excellent game at Roehampton.
Kenneth, always good to read your comments re the reality of facilitating the participation of your kids in high level junior level tennis. The costs to parents are punitive both fiscally and in time spent.
Again, the trouble here - when compared to the European tennis scene - is that there aren't the plethora of money tournaments and the kudos of the domestic ranking.
In France, no parent is going to travel three hours to and from a tournament without very, very good reason.
And they don't have to.
Because there are high ranking money tournaments within an hour's drive every week, wherever you live.
And the results of these give domestic ranking points that are as important, if not more important, than ITF rankings.
And if the players are going to an ITF three hours away, they will be taken by the county/regional federation team (if the player is very good) or by their club (for lower ranking players). Or not at all if the club isn't organising a trip - and then they don;t go, simples.

And very similar in most of Spain.......you can play most weeks/weekends within an hour and a half absolute max. Although some tournaments are below a given age, many are open but a staggered draw based on ability so all ages can enter meaning they are fairly well supported and you should get a good match.
