How does the entry criteria work if they have no world ranking does it go by national ranking or rating? Assuming it is based on national ranking, what happens if they are foreign players with no uk national ranking can they use a foreign countries national ranking?
Four times a year each national association submits to the ITF a list of its top 500 players without a professional ranking, in order of merit. In the case of the LTA this is based on national rating, followed by national ranking (if there are more on the lowest included rating than would fit into the 500).
At the acceptance date, all unranked applicants are sorted into country groups. Each country gets a chip representing each of their players. The unranked places are then drawn and when a chip from a particular country comes up, the highest unplaced player (according to the national orders of merit) from that country gets the next slot on the list.

Anyway, tomorrow plays promising Zizou Bergs which is a Belgium junior talent. He has got a Thornton-Brown Adam which was not playing for a while. Any info about Thornton? How is he now? It seems like it will be his first game since February this year. Is he fully fit?
Thanks Optimist, so you basically need to be a 2.2 to get on the list. I've got some way to go then being an 8.1 and as I am 35 they would exclude me as too old anyway haha!
There are so many British players rated as a 2.2, how does the entry criteria work between two 2.2s, because the LTA list just has them alphabetically.
As a foreign player do you have more chances of your country chip coming up in a draw?
...and to actually get into the draw you needed to at least be 66th on the LTA list which means a rating of 1.2
This must mean ratings matches between 3.1, 2.2 and 2.1 players are really important. It must be like gold dust when you get 3 wins at say a 2.1, and the crazy loss ratio rule means you would probably stop playing for the remainder of the quarter before you secure your move up the ratings.
Then if I am not mistaken it takes ages of inactivity to move down the ratings, therefore once you have climbed the ratings mountain, you can't be easily dislodged.

Welcome to the board. Adam just plays domestic ITF tour events now, but can be pretty useful on his day.
Roy entered one of my events in Bristol, he is ex-Nicholls State US college and now a coach at Halton.
So if I am not mistaken Rob Carter can regain a world ranking tomorrow and the following can earn a world ranking for the first ever time...how exciting!
Finn Bass 17 unr
Luke Johnson 22 unr clemson american college
Isaac Stoute 20 unr
Tiran Sanghera 17 unr
Roy Knight 25 unr nicholls state college, now coach
Robert Carter 23 803
