Yup, but I am not going to miss sleep tonight following any other matches that I might be tempted to check up on   Going to leave my phone downstairs so no chance.  I have been wrecked today LOL

Nice win for Miss Swan, hopefully reflecting an opportunity to work out her opponent develop and deliver her a plan to beat her.

Shame Laura is struggling, hopefully only a matter of time before everything clicks again.

Katie S teams up with Laura's conqueror and the 17 yos obtain a comfortable win.

R1: Usue Maitane Arconada (USA) & Katie Swan UNR (1030+UNR) beat Guiliana Olmos & Nazari Urbina (MEX/MEX) CR 1425 (766+659) 6-2 6-3

Those 18 points so far will take Katie to 27 points and a ranking in the low 800s

They also teamed up at Lubbock, Katie often had a US partner while based out there as a junior including CiCi Bellis and Sofia Kenin but not Usue until recently. Let's hope they make some progress this week.

Pleased for Katie - had a torrid year with injuries and a lack of form. Good to see an impressive scoreline.

Excellent win for Katie S

Freya's Tuesday evening match here still hadn't started by the time Katie's Wednesday morning match in Australia finished but it's now an even bigger deal because the winner will play the winner of a match between two lucky losers.

Freya won the 1st set 6-2 then went 2-4 down in the 2nd but hit back to win the last four games

The win will probably see her break into the WTA top 300, and if she can beat the winner of that battle between two unranked lucky losers, it'll make sure of it

R1: CHRISTIE, Freya (GBR) 304 d TOTKA, Naomi (HUN) Q 530 CH=363 14/12/15 6-2 6-4

R2: CHRISTIE, Freya (GBR) 304 v Andrea Renee VILLARREAL (MEX) LL UNR

Well done, Ms Christie. Ms Villareal handled her opponent quite neatly (6-3 6-0) and appears recently to have left university (Southeastern Louisiana, according to Google). So perhaps slightly more interesting than the simple string of letters after her name would suggest.

And hurrah to Ms Swan. That's a nice win.

Edit: Snap!

As others have said, so good to see Katie get a good win, after a really difficult year.

Can't be easy for her seeing Cici doing so well. either, while you're struggling with injuries and everything.

And always nice to see a JE being put to good use

R1: Freya Christie & Laura Robson CR 805 (308+497) lost to (1) Mihaela Buzarnescu & Elise Mertens (ROU/BEL) CR 344 (264+80) 6-4 6-1

Looked tough and clearly was.

That's all the British Wednesday action from Mexico with no doubt Freya & Katie S's R2 singles on Thursday plus possibly Katie S's QF doubles.
