Very wise indeed. Never mess with injury. I was really impressed by the interview the WTA did with Johanna Konta where she said her aim was to get through major injury free and play whole seasons, and after that, what came, came. Could imagine the temptation must have been serious to keep going to guarantee the Tour Finals place - but she's wise enough to know it's not worth it. Same here.

On to Mr Murray and the doubles. On which note, while Isner is a threat (that serve!) at least he's not with Jack Sock. I regard the latter as someone along the lines of Mirnyi or Zimonjic of old ... anyone they play with becomes more of a threat.

Article on the ATP website explaining that Jamie Murray flew out to Vienna in case his match was on early ... found out he was playing on Wednesday ... went back to London to receive his OBE from the Queen ... and then went back out to Vienna: www.atpworldtour.com/en/news/jamie-murray-receives-obe-buckingham-palace-2016

Not, perhaps, the best preparation for a match ... but if you're going to have less preparation, that's a fairly good reason for it! Congratulations to him.

Why couldn't he phone them up?!!!

Does seem a waste of time. money and carbon ... but it sounds as if the doubles matches weren't scheduled in until Sunday. He may have requested previously that he not play on Tuesday, but not known whether that would mean he would play Monday or Wednesday. Couldn't really ring them up late on Sunday, find out he was playing then and hop on a plane ... so ....

In Andy's quarter John Isner just serves the 31 aces in beating Feliciano Lopez ( 10 aces ) in a third set tiebreak in R2. One break in the match, that by Lopez.

Anyway, stage finally cleared for Andy and hope to catch up with you again on Friday, Big John. Andy first has a couple of matters to attend to, Klizan and Simon.

Andy 6-3 *4-3 up was broken for 4-4*, broke again for *6-5 but went *0-40 down, *15-40, *30-40, broken, tiebreak ...

6-3 6-6

Andy, Andy ...

From 5-3* up in the TB he lost the next 4 points.

6-3 6-7(5)

Doesn't look as if his serve is exactly on song. 51% first serves in, 3 aces, 6 DFs, broken twice from a break up in the second set and lost his two service points from *5-4 in the TB. Apart from that, fabby.

Anyway, scenic route, but just get there, Andy ...

He's listening Indi - *4-0 in the third, and first serve over 70%

Yes, I was just going to say. That does help.

Been watching in the third and not brilliant, but far too good for Klizan.

5-0*

In the rankings Kyle will remain WR 40 at best ( and that's pretty good ! ) this coming Monday.

He had overtaken Sousa for now, but has just been overtaken by a certain Del Potro ( who has beaten Goffin in Basel ).

The main remaining threats are Sousa going back ahead and Delbonis.

Andy broke straight away and has promptly been broken back.
