I think stating a player has peaked at 22 is a bit premature to be honest. Players can develop weapons later in their careers and with the peak age in the early 30s in this day and age there is plenty of time in Liam's career to develop into a top 100 player.

I am hoping you are right.  I am a big fan and he comes across as such a likeable and hard working guy that you can't help but root for him.  I have to say again, I am not an expert and so I cannot see where he might make improvements in his game but I know plenty of people who post here have a great deal more knowledge and I would be interested to know what they think he could do to develop weapons in his game.  To my untrained eye he looks good, athletic, fast and with no clear weaknesses but I don't see anything that intimidates opponents like the Kyle fearhand and I don't know how he would go about developing something like that within his game.

No, Liam doesn't have a real 'weapon' but rather is a good all round player and there are plenty like that in the top 100, but probably not in the real upper echelons of the game.  Unlike those with major weapons who burst onto the scene, the all-rounders tend to gradually move up the rankings over a number of years and I thought that was what was happening with Liam but he does seem to have stalled.  Not sure if he's peaked or not but suspect he just needs a little bit of luck with the draws to get that winning feeling back before slowly chugging upwards again.

I am not particularly aware of players greatly changing their games beyond their early 20s. Yes they can develop weapons in the sense of improving existing ones, but Liam's real problem to me seems to be the lack of particular weapons and it would be very unusual to suddenly find a new weapon. His sister Naomi is an example, probably a bit extreme one, of someone with a weapon, that serve, which she has developed to be used more effectively.

At the moment his game is indeed pretty good generally, but a bit well meh ... in seeming lacking inspiration. Now a good attitude and general ability can get you pretty far, has got Liam further and can do again. Can these who follow Liam more closely pick out any areas where he has clearly gone backwards since his so far peak times? I would imagine that is a natural area to have already looked at and be at least trying to recreate.

What is Liam's coaching set-up? He seems to compete many more weeks than is the average, which must leave less time for development away from competition, and competing a lot without breaks and not getting results must risk falling into a rut.
.
Still a very young guy and there are plenty players seemingly without great weapons that have got pretty far in the game, but he at least does need some changes to set him back in a good direction.

Brydan is on court for his QF, though live streaming from Las Vegas seems to have stopped working!

Stream now up, but Bangoura has taken the first set 6-4. Of course this means Brydan still only needs one set to win the match.

Brydan after the last two points of the set "Your hitting the frame soooo much. Hit it good and you win" and then "Your playing like a complete muppet".

Brydan bizzarely seemed to hurt his knee after a first serve, calls a trainer for the change of ends but somehow still holds.

Brydan was 1-3 down but came back to win the second set 6-3. Just remembered Bangoura was the play whom he was 1-6 2-5 0-40 down to and beat 6 weeks back. There must be some scars there for Sekou.

Brydan looked to be getting close to the winning break until that slip halfway through the set - but in the end it was just a couple of bad points really that separated them.

I believe he is working with the team at Soto at the moment. Lloyd is as well and they seem to be playing the same tournaments.

Harriet loses a TB, Brydan loses a third set, bah, what's going on?

Pity, but Brydan certainly seems to have his game in pretty good shape just now, and so much upward ranking potential next year with nothing to defend over the first 5 months. Hopefully he can defend ( or better ) some pesky points over the rest of this year.

Seems pretty good mentality from Bangoura after what happened before and how this latest match was progressing.
