Week 42 - ATP 250 - Stockholm, Sweden

Nice to see Jonny back from his injury, but a couple of unfortunate draws albeit in what looks a very packed draw for an ATP 250. It doesn't look like Jamie Murray is playing this week, as Soares is the top seed with Melo.

L16: (4) Mate Pavic & Michael Venus (CRO/NZL) CR 72 (33+39) vs Ken Skuspki & Neal Skupski CR 156 (75+81)

L16: Jonathan Marray & Adil Shamasdin (CAN) CR 155 (84+71) vs Colin Fleming & Scott Lipsky (USA) 124 (78+46)

Aww, Evo would have played doubles with Dustin if he hadn't have had to withdraw. cry

Didn't realise how close all the four Brits are in ranking now...

Yes all four within 10 places. Note Jonny is the WR 84 of his partnership, but that doesn't change how close they all are.

Colin and Lipsky won on a MTB against Jonny and Shamasdin. lets hope Colin and Scott can convert it into a decent week.

Ken & Neal start their campaign at noon BST tomorrow. They really a need to have a good tournament here to have a decent shot at Australian Open direct entry with points from three challenger finals still to come off before year end.

Real shame- I haven't seen entry but presume it is going to be a stretch for any of Colin, Johnny or skupskis to get into Basle, Vienna or Paris so presume their main tour seasons are done. I know others disagree but I'd hoped they'd have a strong season end and can't help but still feel disappointed that none of these 4 have finished the season more highly ranked.

For Colin and Johnny, my concern is that it isn't clear what their partners will be and at their ages could retirement be on the horizon in next 12 months?

They might just sneak into qualifying for one of the 500's next week.

Sorry to see Colin Fleming and Scott Lipsky lose - but suspect the Ymer brothers could be quite a force in the land in times to come, so it's not like losing to an ordinary pair with that ranking.

If it's any consolation, the Ymer brothers just beat Rohan Bopanna and Treat Huey in straight sets to go into the final.
