Kyle vs Stan launches proceedings on Stadium Court on Wednesday at 1 pm local, 6 am BST. Andy vs Steve Johnson late, again on Stadium, at not before 8 pm local, 1 pm BST.
R2/L32: (Q) Kyle Edmund WR 48 lost to (3) Stan Wawrinka (SUI) WR 3 (=CH) 6-3 6-4
3 breaks to 1, Kyle 30/51 points won on serve, Stan 40/51, 61 points to 41
So looks to have been a fairly clearcut win by Stan but still decent by Kyle and indeed another fine week. It's taking some quite decent players to beat him at the moment

I see Kyrgios just got thrashed by Mischa Zverev in two very easy sets - didnt see any of it but was this another case of NK not caring and not trying or did Mischa Zverev play particularly well? I suspect I can guess the answer!

Not surprised by this at all after Kyrgios had previously stated that he was "bored" during his 1st round match. From the tweets I've seen, he was mixing it with the fans as well.
This is from Stuart Fraser.
Just been out on Grandstand to witness a pitiful effort from Nick Kyrgios. Arguing with a fan who told him to "respect the game and people"
And this from Barry Flatman
What gets into Kyrgios? He can be a wonderfully entertaining talent but today in Shanghai he was a total disgrace, disrespecting the sport
Such a waste - at least with past mercurial players like John Mc or Leconte or similar they always seemed to care and try - it is completely disrespectful, not least to the spectators and sponsors who have made him a millionaire at a very young age
Oh entirely the former. Watched a fair bit of the match myself and NK just did not want to be on-court. The thing is, this in itself is entirely understable considering the amount of matches he has played recently, however the question stands, why not retire injured or feign competitiveness rather than creating the cringe worthy and unprofessional scene that is a player tanking? I'm not expecting anyone to answer that! It was a shambles anyway. Zverev won't be complaining though - so far he's played a Chinese WC and a tanking NK, not the worst way to earn a good chunk of points and prize money.
I am sure Mischa Zverev won't be complaining. I think that win takes him well into the top 100. He's got a total of 69 points to defend for the rest of the year (57 of them from one October tournament), so barring injury or other misfortune, has a very good shot at being a DA for the Australian Open.
I caught the last 3 games, looked like Kyle kept up with Stan all the way in set 2 before being broken at 4-4. He seemed to have been disturbed by some movement in the crowd on BP. He then had 3 break back points when Stan was serving out but missed them - Stan's not no.3 in the world for nothing unfortunately. But looked pretty competitive from what I saw.
Turned on the TV this morning hoping to catch a game or 2 over breakfast, only to be in time for the post match summing up - which suggested that Stan came out firing on all cylinders and played a blinder and that Kyle did not disgrace himself.
