Andy wins 6-4 6-3 and we thus have the story set for the day, RBA beating Djokovic
How right you are. Sigh. At least I'll grant that this one is news.
Edit: And at least they show some doubles in the main section. And even video. The video suggests that when the Bryans retire, the US isn't exactly going to be without doubles options in the DC.

Apparently if Andy wins Vienna and Paris, and Djokovic doesn't reach the final in Paris, Andy will be WR 1 on Nov 7th.
It's a tough ask, and would probably be very short lived given Murray and Djokovic's respective records at the O2, but certainly possible.
Depending on form between now and then, I think the Australian Open and the two North American Masters in Feb will be Murray's greatest opportunity. Defending just 1290 points across those three tournaments, whilst Djokovic is defending 4340 from those three and two other tournaments in that time frame. The Australian Open might prove to be a #1 shootout.
Incidentally Murray has just stated the same thing himself.

Andy will go to 10485 ranking points, which I make a personal record exceeding this year's post Wimbledon 10195 points.
That has been achieved while also winning the Olympics ( now a non counter ) and with his Davis Cup wins this year ( now non counters though last year's DC final and bonus points still count for now ).

Short-lived? An hour would do, to etch his name in history as "World Number One"!
