Kyle's rise has been quite remarkable. Until the age of 10 (11 years ago) he hadn't even picked up a racket in his young life. 4 and a half years ago he didn't have a senior world ranking. Now hopefully top 50! And indeed a fine sight to see him down to play Andy in the QF
Fantastic progress yet again by Kyle, looking every bit a top 20 player these days. Its incredible, his rise this past year. He's obviously a very intelligent player and a quick learner. A shame he plays Andy next for me but then I best get used to this happening..
With regard to Kyle's potential top 50 status, if Live Rankings are to be believed (and that is a big if sometimes), there are only 4 players that could overtake him this week from his provisional position of 48.
Malek Jaziri - Would have to beat Roanic in L16 of Beijing Adrian Mannarino - Would have to beat Nadal / Pouille / Raonic (if seedings go to plan) in Beijing Juan Monaco - Would have to beat Duckworth / Cilic / Nishikori in Tokyo Radek Stepanek - Would have to win Tokyo. He plays Kyrgios in the L16
All this would change of course if Kyle wins his QF.

CONFIRMED - KYLE WILL BE A TOP 50 PLAYER ON MONDAY
Stepanek withdrew giving Kyrgios a W/O, and Nadal has just beaten Mannarino. So the lowest Kyle can be in Monday's rankings is 50. There is still every chance he will be higher than that. Jaziri's match against Raonic was put off until tomorrow so I am assuming the weather was an issue. Juan Monaco beat Duckworth but now faces Marin Cilic. So wins for the higher ranked players in those matches will see Kyle finish the week at 48, unless of course ...............

Well done Kyle as well as top 50 by winning in the first round he has also joined the elite club of British men to have broken the $1,000,000 career earnings. Not bad for a 21 yr old. I know of course he probably won't even be aware of that and it's not that relevant in the grand scheme of things but it's still a milestone I'd say and another sign of his progress this year.
Hopefully money won't be a distraction for him, having been around and loosely mentored by Andy now for some years I think the currency he values above dollars will be ATP tournament wins and slams. Fantastic progress

Early days but currently 3-3 in the opening set. I actually think Kyle has a chance today. He won't fear Andy given that they practise together so much.

As a footnote, both Juan Monaco and Malek Jaziri lost their respective matches guaranteeing Kyle at 48 or better on Monday.
For Kyle to win the match, I think he probably had to take that first set. I expect Andy to take the 2nd more comfortably - but I've been wrong before.

Even if Mr Edmund wins the second set I think Mr Murray will be too powerful in the 3rd.
