Australian Open 2017 qualifying points

Five PR rankings in the men make the main draw - Hass, Robredo, Kokki, Jerzy and Tursunov.

I see the WTA have published the main draw and alt list for the women. Quali cut off date confirmed as 19th Dec.
Haven't found the men's list yet.

The men's main draw list is on Men's Tennis Forums, and from experience will be kept updated with withdrawals. Where / how they get it I don't know.

Surely a couple of the higher alt Aussies are likely to get main draw wildcards, eg Duckworth and Ebden (who seems to be on twice). So is he 111 as a  PR, and at the bottom is his "real" ranking.

Menstennisforums is showing the qualifying list with Aljaz WR 101 initially first on the list. Aljaz will surely get into the main draw with for starters Ricardas Berankis evidently not playing but not officially withdrawn yet.

The initial cut-off is WR 229 !!  This is rather far above Ed WR 271 and Cam WR 278.

Tennis teen has Ed at 34th alt, Cam at 40th alt, Brydan 58th alt, Lloyd 71st alt and James 80th alt.

Both Cam and Brydan have wisely entered Auckland qualifiers instead of a challenger which means unless they qualify and win a round there they can be on site in case of any late withdrawals.

Everybody can now move up another place in the list as Juan Martin del Potro has withdrawn. Many of the top seeds are breathing a sigh of relief this morning as he would have to be considered as probably the most dangerous "floater" in history.

The good news from a tennis perspective is that it appears his withdrawal is nothing more than precautionary - he cites lack of recovery time after winning the DC - and it does not seem to be a recurrence of his injury.

Aww, at least nothing serious for JMDP, and Aljaz's main draw place is confirmed if it wasn't already. Also Del Potro is probably exhausted and short of tennis from being feted for the last month with little time for tennis.

Regards the women I would have thought that their qualifying list would be out too, but it's at least not appeared on tennisforum to the upset of one or two of their members - language please !

The interest there would be Laura. I believe just 96 in qualifying for the women and if so I can't see her being in initially but just to see where she stands assuming she's entered. Tara will clearly be in qualifying no problem.

Tennisforum.com is now showing the women's qualifying list allowing for early withdrawals.

The current cut-off is WR 210. Laura is WR 222.

I take it that that list is of those that applied for the main draw. Laura isn't listed there at all, even though the alts go down way beyoind her ranking.

As PaulM indicated in the Auckland thread not only is Laura on the qualifying alts list she is apparently up to 3rd alt with question marks over some remaining players.

No chance for any men in the natural course of events. But sometimes the cut-off goes right out very late on with late withdrawals and high alts having given up on it. So, say Cam was available ...
