Aljaz has form here, of course - I don't know whether it's held at exactly the same venue. but he won the Rome 1 (held in May) Challenger in both 2013 and 2015.

Another slice of good news is that second seed Adam Pavlasek was knocked out in the first round by Arnaboldi. Pavlasek won the Banja Luka challenger a couple of weeks ago, defeating Aljaz's conquerer in the final, and is clearly another young gun to watch so I am sure Aljaz will be pleased to avoid him. Aljaz is now the highest seed in his side of the draw and as Steven notes, has good form in Rome.
Aljaz took his foot off the gas in the second, probably looking ahead to the next round and not wanting to extend himself and it bit him in the rear. He has re-asserted himself in the decider and is a break up at 4-1. He definitely should not be losing to this guy based on the two sets I watched.
