It is a bit embarrassing that the most important match of the season ended up with a contrived score to set a target that neither side was really going to get a result from.

Lancashire are extremely lucky to stay up - without their great start to the season, they would have been down (6 players carried Lancs - Hameed, Proctor, Peterson, Anderson, Jarvis and Wagner - four of those unlikely to be available much next season)

If you want an easy bet - Lancs to get relegated next season, unless they bring in 4-5 players.

Not sure that it is really embarrassing how the Middlesex innings has evidently been latterly played.

Yes, presumably not a great sight. But both sides need a win, it wasn't going to happen the way things would have naturally panned out. I was wondering if and when actions would be taken to do something about that and as professional cricketers wanting to win ( the title no less ) they took actions. 2nd or 3rd - meh, the title makes it all sensible.

Yes, would be pity for Somerset but it is fair.

Think it could be Middlesex's with Yorkshire perishing in the becoming really tough test.

As they are saying the fact it is still possible for now can keep Yorkshire hitting. Less than 7 overs though to take 4 wickets though.

Happened quicker than expected though. All fall down !!

It was nightmare additional scenario for Somerset that Yorkshire were 3rd. So they didn't even have a minor incentive of drawing making a difference between 2nd and 3rd. They were liable to just keep going for it.

Somerset have only themselves to blame for not getting that last batting point with a big collapse on day 1. If it wasn't for that Yorkshire wouldn't have much point going for the win and that game probably would have ended in a draw.

Ah hadn't realised that Yorkshire were so close to being put out of it.

Yes, them having a chance has absolutely changed the dynamics ( and the final batting side going for 3rd or 1st just made it a bit worse ). Clearly needed two to tango and Yorkshire being still at the party were very much interested in tangoing.
