Great to see Evan's name back on a list after such a long layoff. I am sure he must be desparate to get back playing.
BUT :
Is this a right move. Evan last played on week 19. Loughborough will be week 43. That's 24 weeks off. Am I right in thinking that if someone is out for 26 weeks, they can use a protected ranking ? If Evan doesn't get a PR, he will have a tough time. By the end of the year he will have only 6 points plus anything he can get over the next few weeks.
I am sure the temptation of home futures must be a great incentive to get back on court, but I wonder if tactically he would be better off waiting a couple of weeks and using the PR to his advantage.
If I have the PR rules wrong, please feel free to advise me.
Not sure about the rules for the men, but the women only get an SR (PR) if their ranking at the time of injury was 300 or better. Suspect their is also some sort of cut-off in the men's and that he is below it.
Loughborough men is loaded with Brits in the main draw, sadly only Lisa and Maia look like making the main draw in the women's.
Sam Murray withdrew. Eleanor Dean is still on the alts list. It will be interesting to see who gets wildcards in both men's and women's events. Some good juniors in the men's and women's and a few close to a final counter in the women's.
Manisha Foster is listed in the main draw now, as well ass Lisa and Maia, 18 Brits listed in qualifying, including Eleanor Dean.
The following week in Sheffield looks like being a similar pattern - Sam Murray is entered atm.
The following week in F5, there is not one single GB player in the direct acceptance list on ITF site...amazing. We have only 6 in a year and not one player is yet in to this fifth event...

But that's with players in entered in multiple events, it will look a lot different after the withdrawal deadline next Tuesday.

Prior to the dealine day dropout, there were no Brits in the MD this week either. After the deadline, we now have 8 in the MD, with probably 3 players seeded, and another 2 squeezing into the MD if there are no SEs.
Amazed to see Dasha Konotopseva down for Loughborough. She started her pro career quite brightly and the just gradually faded away and hasn't played (as far as I can see) anywhere for 2 for 3 years. Will be interested to see where she's at.

thanks all that responded - good to hear. It looked v stark compared to F4 the previous week. I dont tend to follow the detail of Futures that closely, although as a general point I must say it is disappointing to me we don't have more futures events these days or indeed Challengers outside the pre Wimbledon events. But I realise that's been debated a lot on here so will stop now!
