Let's have two British wins !
I think 5th seed Ed thrashing a qualifier in Plaisir put an end to that, but yes, until Ed won, 15 of the previous 18 singles matches involving at least one Brit and at least one ATP or WTA ranked player had been won by the lower-ranked player, starting with Brydan's loss to Quiroz in Columbus late yesterday afternoon (UK time) and ending with Lloyd's loss to Hurkacz in the same tournament about 24 hours later!
The reason I counted was because it felt like there had been a lot of matches going that way, but I was surprised by quite how extreme it was.
Of course, the upsets weren't all bad by any means - Cam's win in Columbus, the big win for Farris in Niagara and some of the upset wins in Nottingham went GB's way (even the other upsets in Nottingham were 'GB-neutral', i.e. in all-GB matches), but elsewhere, they mainly went against the Brits, e.g. in Israel, where Brits were 0-3 v lower-ranked players in R2, though Josh's loss to the US college player there couldn't really be classed as an 'upset'.
