1st Round

Aaron CORTES ALCARAZ (ESP) WR 1070 (CH 964 a year ago) def. Dan DOWSON (GBR) WR 820 6-4 2-6 6-0

Imran and Alex Jhun lost their doubles.

As did James Allemby+.

All gloom-isia in Tunisia, really....

Apart from Marzi and Dan D who are winning theirs nicely.... currently 6-0 3-0 ....

No better news in the doubles, either, so far but for the sake of completeness:

R1:  (1) Franco Agamemnone & Mariano Kestelboim (ITA/ARG) CR 676 (342+334) defeated (WC) James Allemby & Ramy Labna (EGY) UNR (1731+0) by 2 & 3
R1:  Bernd Kössler & Thomas Statzberger (AUT/AUT) CR 2244 (991+1253) defeated Imran Aswat & Alex Jhun UNR (1419+0) by 6-1 7-6(3)

However, still in the hunt:

R1:  Marc Dijkhuizen & Floris van Den Brink (NED/NED) CR 3190 (1678+1512) vs Dan Dowson & James Marsalek CR 2116 (1098+1018)

*****

QF:  Dan Dowson & James Marsalek CR 2116 (1098+1018) vs (4) Eduardo Agustín Torre & Nicolás Xivillier (ARG/URU) CR 2063 (678+1385)

Could be a chance there...

Marzi served for the first set at 5-3

and somehow contrived to lose the set 5-7....

He served for the second at 5-3

and got broken....

BUT managed to end up taking the set 7-5

Into a third....

Seems I was being a wee bit overoptimistic yesterday:

QF:  (4) Eduardo Agustín Torre & Nicolás Xivillier (ARG/URU) CR 2063 (678+1385) defeated Dan Dowson & James Marsalek CR 2116 (1098+1018) by 2 & 5

They had chances to take the second set...  hmm
