Romain Jouan had some serious shoulder problems. And has been a tennis coach (at Quimper, I think) for a time.
But, although cutting back on his international tournaments, he's been playing seriously in France (he's third in the list of the Grand Circuit players - the big individual money tournaments that total about 300k in prize-money - having played 19 tournaments in 2016. As well as team tennis obviously).
Kudos too to the German qualifier, Robin Kern, in the other half, who's made the semis - he used to be JWR 11, and is only 22 years old now, but has obviously had some problems.
Yes, I recall watching Robin Kern lose an epic third set 13-11 to Liam Broady in their Wimbledon Junior QF in 2011 ( OK, I may have checked back for detail ). He, like Liam, looked a very good prospect.

Kern is the German with a big serve who was beaten 13-11 in the 3rd by Liam in an epic Wimbledon boys' singles QF a few years ago.

Thanks for the info CD. This does put Liam's first round exit into a little more perspective and although still disappointing it is perhaps not as bad a loss as the respective rankings would suggest.
Great to see Ed into the semi finals, good opportunity to pick up some decent points. Would of liked to have seen the British Men take advantage of all the Challenger events on this week, nevertheless wishing Ed the best of luck in his semi final!
Ed, when he is injury free and confident is very difficult to beat. If he gets on a run like he did on the grass, he picks up good points quickly.
Very much picks up points in clusters, but often struggles with his back.
If he can win tomorrow, confidence will be sky high for the followings in Sweden.
