That really is some comeback!! If anybody had a tenner on him at that point they'll be best mates with him for life!!

If Mr Bangoura isn't the owner of at least one smashed beyond repair Tennis racquet I'll be very surprised!

Week 37 - Challenger ($50,000+H) - Atlantic Tire Championships, Cary, NC, USA (hard)

And a piece of good news for Mr Bambridge and Mr Mclachlan!

L16: Luke Bambridge & Ben Mclachlan (NZL) CR 575 (294+281) d. (1) Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela & Max Schnur (MEX/USA) CR 228 (125+103) 6-4 6-3. Well done the team!

QF: Luke Bambridge & Ben Mclachlan (NZL) CR 575 (294+281) v Tommy Paul & Frances Tiafoe (USA/USA)

In addition

L16: (4) Steven De Waard (AUS) & Brydan Klein CR 397 (214+183) d (WC) Robert Levine & Nick Stachowiak (USA/USA) UNR 7-6 (1) 6-4

QF: (4) Steven De Waard (AUS) & Brydan Klein CR 397 (214+183) v. Adam El Mihdawy & Darian King (USA/BAR) CR 1228 (888+340)

Unfortunately, also some less good news.

Adam El Mihdawy & Darian King (USA/BAR) CR 1228 (888+340) d. David O'Hare (IRL) & Joe Salisbury CR 398 (140+258) 6-4 7-6 (6). Sounds like a tight match.

Sadly, Kozlov & Krajicek edged the semi-final from a set down, 6-7(6) 6-4 11:9

Stefan Kozlov is no fool on the doubles court, and Krajicek is excellent. That's a very nice run.

I know it's heresy, but it looks as if Luke Bambridge's strategy is to play doubles and qualies singles in Challengers rather than just sticking to winning Futures doubles titles ... and I think it's a really wise one. Hope this partnership (or whichever he chooses) can really go somewhere. Good luck!

NB: For completeness sake, Adam El Mihdawy and Darian King d. Steven de Waard and Brydan Klein in another tight match: 7-5 5-7 10-7.

Interesting re Luke's evident stategy. I tend to agree with you. It is giving his singles a chance, but importantly more developing his doubles where increasingly it looks as if his long term future may more lie.

Not quite British but a little shout out for Irishman James McGee who won here to take his 1st ever Challenger title beating Escobedo from a set down in the final.

Yes, congrats to James McGee - and worth noting:

Leigh Walsh @LeighWalsh87 Sep 18

If it wasn't for a rejected Chinese visa, McGee would've been about 12,000km away from North Carolina this week. A welcome twist of fate.
