A question of ignorance: is it only people who win the regional events who are able to go to the national championships? Or are the top players invited regardless? My recollection is that Julian Cash and his doubles partner are actually among the top-ranked teams in the country. If they'd lost that final TB, would they not have gone?

Julian lost in the first round of dubs at the All Americans so if he had not won here, no he would not have gone.  Jack Findel-Hawkins, however, as a finalist at the All Americans gets to go anyway despite losing in R1 of the dubs in his regional.
