Nice win :)

Well done, Jazzamay. Court 1 seems to be smiling on the Brits today.

Alicia will get into qualifying at Nottingham, but I suspect with a decent draw will pick up points next week.

I suspect Eleanor Dean may well win this tournament, if she can remain injury free this week.

And Lisa+ take their doubles, 6-0 6-0

That's a great showing from the GB girls - 6 sets played and only 6 games lost !

Alicia is 10 places off qualifying at the moment, so might need late withdrawals or a wild card. Pity these two have to play each other tomorrow - first match on court 3

Is Alicia giving the tour a proper go? She was a US college student I believe.

Next few weeks should see some of the girls with no ranking or a minimal ranking push on with weakish draws and domestic 10K's coming up.

This article from the local paper covering Northwestern sports gives a round up of Alicia's college career, some personal insights and at the end states her intention to go for professional tennis

A great read, The O, thanks. Especially interesting about the difference between UK and US natural tendencies

Good luck to Alicia, and her family.

Serve not working yet, only 3/10 first serves in, and 4 DF

Alicia leads 2 breaks to 1

Jazzamay off to a flier at *5-1

Eleanor takes the first set 6-3 by virtue of 4 breaks to 3, despite 9DF and only 1 Ace

Jazzamay wins 2 & 0

Eleanor wins 6-3 6-2, which was pretty much the score I was expecting, but not in that manner. 8 breaks to 5, 14DF and only 2 aces.

Be quite good if and when she habitually serves as she can

Very true. I gather she served three aces in one game at Sutton, on quite a slow surface. Unfortunately I was watching Alicia and Lucy at the time and missed it.
