Eleanor ( and Alicia and Lisa ) are in the quarter of the top seed ( the first seed they are due to meet is #8 ). As I suggested the draw was the danger of being so positive about at least a SF for Eleanor, though to be fair on rankings here that top seed doesn't really stand out.
The top seed is 'only' WR 650 ( and indeed as the addict pointed out there is not very much in ranking terms among the top 4 seeds ) and from what Eleanor has shown already on the British Tour ( apart from her past ) that looks within her compass. Will be interesting if it is a QF clash.

In the only pro match for a Brit lady today, Emma lost out in doubles.
R1: Hurst/Santos (GBR/POR) lost to Carillo Marin/Gutierrez Carrasco (ESP/ESP) 4-6 2-6
I believe Alicia is giving it a go, certainly signing up for a few tournaments right now, but might not quite get into qualies at Nottingham. She has a really tough draw here though, and I would be surprised if she gets any change from Eleanor (I saw both these two play at Sutton recently)
Is Alicia giving the tour a proper go? She was a US college student I believe.
Next few weeks should see some of the girls with no ranking or a minimal ranking push on with weakish draws and domestic 10K's coming up.

Whenever Murta has played a Brit, it's always been the better ranked player that has lost. The only time the Portuguese has won is when she beat Mirabelle, who had a superior ranking at the time. She has suffered ranking reverses, though, to Harriet, Laura S. and now Jazz

Interesting article, confirms what we thought. Alicia is currently 16th alt for Nottingham, but the list is still changing, even though the withdrawal deadline has passed.
