Sorry, Stircrazy, been on road with work and didnt spot it on my rubbish phone hmm

No worries, good that he is there! Always good to have a rep in the doubles!

Pity that last year's final is this year's SF - would have been a very nice repeat final!

Nothing to apologise for, especially it being back a page. Better twice than not at all

Wasn't Jamie with John in that final?

Good point. Come to think of it, I remember noticing when Peers went out early, and thinking that he's going to have quite a massive loss in the rankings.

And it's three all in the second.

Yes! biggrin  They convert their fourth match point! biggrin

SF:  (4) Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares (BRA) CR 12 (4+8) defeated (1) Nicolas Mahut & Pierre-Hugues Herbert (FRA/FRA) CR 3 (1+2) by 7-5 4-6 6-3  ban-woohoo.gif

There's an interesting, all-Spanish match-up in the bottom half of the draw:  los López (8) vs young Pablo Carreño in tandem with GGL.

Jamie and Bruno will be favorites from here, hope they can relax and enjoy the moment. With the win in Australia and now this it seems they certainly have the knack of peaking for the right events, long may it continue.

Brilliant win.

Jamie has now made four of the last six slam finals. Quite impressive!

Would be great to have a Murray win 3 of the 4 slams this year.

Good stuff  biggrin

Having, as has been said, earlier in the event mathematically secured their place at the ATP tour finals Jamie & Bruno might as well go to #1 in the race, which they will if they win the title ( edit: no they won't, they will still 'just' be # 2 once you err give Mahut & Herbert 720 points rather than 360 ).

Whatever, Jamie and Bruno will individually be WR 4 and WR 5 respectively, but that win has contained and reduced the gap to the top 2. Let's see it further reduced and another Slam title would be just great. Bring on the Spanish.

Three Murray stats to choose from:

- at least one Murray has made a men's final at the last 6 slams
- at least one Murray has made a men's final at 7 of the last 8 slams
- the Murrays have made 8 finals at the last 8 slams (2 at AO 2016, 0 at RG 2015, 1 at all the rest)

We're a bit spoilt, aren't we ... and with that, increasing singles backup and near-full commitment from the players in recent times, is it any wonder that GB are Davis Cup champions and favourites to win it again?

Thank you, Steven! That's quite a set of statistics.

Re an earlier comment, I wouldn't say they were necessarily the favourites if their opponents are the two Lopez - that one would be hard to call. What is interesting is the way in which after a period when the Bryans no longer won everything but there seemed little consistency at the top, we're seeing a few teams (Murray/Soares, Mahut/PHH, Lopez/Lopez, the Bryans, Dodig/Melo to some degree) separate themselves from the others.

PCB & GGL lead the second SF 6-3 2-2*
