The bad boys seem to be gelling!

R2:  Dan Evans & Nick Kyrgios (AUS) CR 976 (625+351) defeated (WC) Taylor Fritz & Tommy Paul (USA/USA) CR 752 (306+446) by 4 & 2

R3:  Dan Evans & Nick Kyrgios (AUS) CR 976 (625+351) vs (12) Lukasz Kubot & Alexander Peya (POL/AUT) CR 49 (24+25) (& a combined age of 70 [34 & 36])

Probably will turn out this way, but Kubot & Peya are currently still trying to negotiate R2. Thy have won the first set vs Robert & Sela in a tiebreak.

I know - now!  Not sure how I managed to get so ahead of myself earlier.  confuse Kubot & Peya took the tie-break by 7-5 & the second set by 6-4.  Have no plans to become a professional "better" (or perhaps "gambler" would be a better word &, by nature/inclination, I'm definitely not one of those), though. wink

As has been reported on the singles thread, it appears Dan and Nick have withdrawn from the doubles and conceded a W/O. I think they are both injured.

Just thinking that a bit of fatigue may have got to both Dan and Kyrios whilst playing both dubs or singles every day recently but I didn't see the game. Never mind, Dan is massively improved this year and he has shown great ability and resolve. Looking much improved, revitalised. Really looking forward to seeing him as a key part of the DC GB team, feeding on his new found confidence.

I can't say that I am upset that they have withdrawn from the doubles as I just couldn't bring myself to cheer on a doubles team that includes Kyrgios.

Really, I thought it would be really cool if the bad boys won it.

Well I think my record is pretty clear when it comes to defending a bit a bad behaviour against the overly judgemental fuss buckets who thinks that everybody should always be nice boys and girls on court. However Kyrgios goes well beyond merely being a "bad boy" and in my opinion is a total disgrace. He demonstrates zero respect for the sport, the fans or his opponents.
