Boys: Smash academy Egypt ITF Junior Tournament, clay - Grade 2 (Week 35)

Last year Jay Clarke won both Egyptian G2s to propel himself to a ranking for direct acceptance to Slams in his final junior year. Looking to take the same path in an equally weak event (just 4 players ranked inside 200 on entry) are Finn Bass and Max Stewart

R1 (L32)

(4) Max Stewart v Nikshep Ballekere Ravikumar (IND)

Adham Gaber (EGY) v (2) Finn Bass

Strong performances today ensure decent points for both, though they lost in doubles. The top 4 seeds therefore contest the semis

QF

(4) Max Stewart d. (5) Yanki Erel (TUR) 6-2 6-0
(2) Finn Bass d. (6) Mohamed Abdel-Aziz (EGY) 6-2 6-2

SF

(1) Francisco Vittar (ARG) v (4) Max Stewart
(3) Kaya Gore (TUR) v (2) Finn Bass

Great results from both boys - well done !

As you say, David, it's a weak event - I wonder if the LTA focused in on it after having seen Jay's success last year?

Of course, with the G2s in Hungary and Serbia, and the G1 in Canada (with US Open to come), the best young players are all split up - it's definitely a week to take advantage.

Kaya GORE (TUR) [3] 6-2 6-3 Finn BASS (GBR) [2]
